– USB-C in this adapter supposed to plug into the Source Device, i.e Laptops; while MiniDP to Monitors; it can Not be used the other way around, for example, try to convert Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C display to MiniDP by plug the USB-C onto monitors, i.e LG UltraFine 4K display

– Though MiniDP shares the same shape and appearance with Thunderbolt 1&2, however they have different signal protocols which can only allow signal flows on one way traffic from Thunderbolt 1&2 to MiniDP, Not in the other way around, in other words, this adapter won’t work when paired with Thunderbolt 1&2 displays, such as:
Apple Thunderbolt Display 27 released back to 2011 (A1407)
However is perfect for previous generation of this model which also mentioned in the beginning-
Apple LED Cinema Display 27&24 (A1316, A1267)
